CERTIFICATE OF SOLEMN PROMISE to CELEBRATE
MARRIAGE

In the year 1835 on the 13th day of
June, in front of us Alberto Ciaccio, Mayor and Officer of Vital
Records of the township of
Sambuca,
district of Sciacca, Providence of Girgenti, has appeared in the
town hall:
Nicolo Maria Mangiaracina, never married, age 28,
a farmer born in Sambuca, District of Sciacca, Providence of
Girgenti, living on Santa Lucia, the son of Giorgio age 63 and
Antonia Armato, deceased and Antonia Maria Fiorenza, never
married, age 22, born in Sambuca, daughter of Leonardo age 56 a
farmer, and Giuseppa Vicaacgua?, age 46.
The same appeared with their own witnesses, who
will be specified hereunder, and the have produced, and have
requested for us to receive their solemn promise to celebrate
before the Church according to the prescribed form by the Sacred
Council of Trento, in their planned marriage.
The notification of this promise has been posted
on the door of the town hall of
Sambuca
on the day 24th a Sunday in the month of May, in the year 1835.
We comply with their request, after having read
their documents consisting of:

the birth record of the husband to be
-
the birth record of the wife to be
-
the certificate of death of the father of the
husband/wife
-
the certificate of death of the mother of the
husband/wife
and Chapter VI of the marriage civil laws
regarding the rights and obligations of both bride and groom,
and having obtained from each of the parties one after the other
the declaration that they solemnly promise that they intend to
be united in Marriage in the Church, according to the format
prescribed by the Sacred Council of Trento.
From all of this we have created the present act
in the presence of the four witnesses present at the solemn
promise, that is: Marco Antonia Lucido age 58, a sieve maker, a
citizen, living in Sambuca on Torre and Tommaso Catalanotto, age
31 a farmer, a citizen, living in Sambuca on Piazza and Gaspare
Ciaccio age 42, living in Sambuca on Celso and Luciano Cannova,
age 40 a farmer, living in Sambuca on Torre.
This act, that has been written in the two
separate records, we have and to the future spouses, to whom we
have also given two exact copies, undersigned by us, to be
presented to the Priest, who will perform the marriage, and then
has been signed by us for the groom, the gather of the groom,
the witnesses, the bride, and the mother of the bride, as all
declared to not know how to write.
